It has been confirmed that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.

Lawrence and Hutcherson will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Industry whispers indicate their roles will likely occur in a brief glimpse ahead, as the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.

This represents the sixth cinematic outing in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.

Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a recent book by series creator Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who was behind nearly all the previous films in the series.

The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.

The cast also includes several notable actors in pivotal roles:

• Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the calculating President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

In other news, Jennifer Lawrence is receiving acclaim for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
