The Game UN:Me: A Psychological Thriller Merging Silent Hill with Among Us Gameplay

The recent Day of the Devs online presentation unveiled several fascinating future games, but one in particular has captured attention: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player adventure seems to blend the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill title with the suspicion-driven heart of Among Us.

"This is a distinctive game where a girl harboring multiple human souls inside her must escape from a labyrinth of the mind," explains developer Yasukazu Kawai.

Stepping Into a Shattered Consciousness

In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed heroine who appears to be of high school age. Inside her exist four distinct souls, all possessing unique anxieties and motivations. These entities can seize control spontaneously, releasing their innermost phobias upon her without warning.

Based on revealed gameplay, much of the action unfolds within a eerie medical facility, though additional clips show the protagonist exploring a abandoned chapel.

A World of Individual Horror

"What makes you fearful of? What makes you uneasy?" asks creative lead Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Confined spaces. Authority figures. Things that appear minor to other people can trigger a deep instinct inside us. This game delves into that concept — fears that are specific to every individual."

The central mechanic involves controlling whichever soul surfaces at a particular time. However, these souls will switch involuntarily during gameplay. During exploration, every persona's fears become exaggerated and attack the protagonist one after another. When the soul shifts, so does the particular terror the player experiences.

Eerie Aesthetics and a Fatal Choice

Initially, UN:Me displays striking visual similarities with the Silent Hill series. The hospital is populated by orderlies all sporting the same face, with disturbingly broad grins. Patients in the waiting room have enormous blooms growing from their necks are. Floral motifs are an ever-present theme, juxtaposing organic elegance with supernatural dread.

Yet, UN:Me introduces a unique twist. Players must determine which of the four entities haunting the heroine is the "true" one. "Each of the personas claims that the body belongs to them," explains a creator. "During the game, you must determine who is real."

After a player have deduced a soul is fake, they must eliminate it. But, since each soul can deceive or obfuscate the reality, it is very easy to make a mistake.

"Maybe you've already destroyed the true [soul] by your own actions," a voice suggests. "The final entity standing could be a fraud. In any case, your choices are final."

UN:Me does not yet have a publicly announced release date, but it is can be follow on digital storefronts.
