The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to create a tabletop RPG that explores the franchise’s apocalyptic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign planned to launch in April of 2026.

"This endeavor will bring the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the tabletop, offering fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through deep narrative and player-driven missions," reads an official release.

Initial offerings are set to feature a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a GM screen, miniatures, and various deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this setting, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was released in New York City, plunging the nation into turmoil. As the crisis worsens, society crumbles and hostile groups emerge, turning the city into a battlefield. To restore law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. This is where the agents come in.

Work on the game has been underway for approximately several years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a preorder system to access a broader market, particularly in the United States. Production will start right after the fundraiser, with shipping expected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

An early look at the game's rules confirms it uses d10s exclusively through its new GRIS system, promoting a streamlined and tactical approach. Players leverage abilities to roll small dice pools, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of adding results together, participants select a single “resolution die” from the pool.
  • This die is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Achieving a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Engagements Focus On Positioning and Awareness

Fights prioritize positioning and situational awareness, reflecting the video games. Elements like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility have a direct impact success chances. This mechanic is designed to reward teamwork and clever tactics over simple statistics.

A Thematic Health System

The way health is tracked introduces a compelling thematic twist. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their capabilities by lowering the number of d10s.

  1. At zero health, an operative collapses, but is not unconscious.
  2. They can still move and perform restricted acts, emulating the "downed" state common to video game shooters.
  3. Any player knocked down must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like trauma or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Adventure

A publicly available introductory rulebook will be released soon. It includes a pre-made introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group spearhead the hunt for a missing medical team and work to stop an attack by the notorious Rikers faction, who have taken over that Manhattan district. Further information and the full range of offerings are expected to be unveiled closer to the Kickstarter start date.
