Former Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a former physician now faces charges for performing assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
