The vaping figures are an estimate since some countries - 109 in all, and many in Africa and Asian regions - fail to collect data.
Based on the study, as of recent February this year, at minimum 86 million e-cigarette users were grown-ups, mostly in high-income countries.
And at least 15 million teenagers aged 13 and 15 already use e-cigarettes, based on research from 123 states.
